Installation Care and Guidance for RoyMC Paint Protection Film

1. Before Installation – Surface Preparation

Clean the vehicle’s surface thoroughly using a high pH detergent mixed with water.

Clean the surrounding areas (e.g., entire hood, fender, headlights).

Use high-pressure washer/air to remove debris from seams/openings.
-
Clay bar or auto scrub the surface to remove embedded contaminants.
-
Degrease with isopropyl alcohol if necessary and ensure the surface is fully dry.

Wipe edges with pure isopropyl alcohol and lint-free wipes.
2. Tools and Mounting Solutions
Essential Tools:

Cleaning squeegee

Yellow Turbo Squeegee

OLFA knife (carbon steel or ceramic blades)

32-ounce spray bottle or larger

Heat gun (optional)
Mounting Solution:

Use distilled/purified water (not tap water).

Use neutral soap (e.g., Johnson Baby Shampoo without additives).

Soap ratios by temperature:

15°-23°C (60°-74°F): 2-3 drops per bottle
-
24°-32°C (75°-90°F): 4-5 drops per bottle
-

Avoid over-soaping to prevent adhesive weakening.
Alcohol (Tack) Solution:

Use isopropyl alcohol (70% or 90%), diluted:
-
9:1 water to alcohol (standard)
-
8:2 for stronger tack
-

Never use undiluted alcohol directly.
3. Ideal Installation Environment
Temperature Range: 15°-32°C (60°-90°F)

Avoid direct sunlight or open-air settings.
If Over 32°C (90°F):
-
Cool down vehicle and open the hood.
If Below 15°C (60°F):
-
Warm the vehicle and use warm water in all solutions.
-
Dry edges carefully with a heat gun (test with hand).
If Below 0°C (32°F):
-
Follow cold weather instructions.
-
Keep vehicle indoors at least 12 hours.
-
Use infrared heaters if needed.
4. Seamless Installation Process
Hood:
-
Spray soap solution under the film.
-
Squeegee one side to tack it.
-
Stretch to the opposite side and tack.
-
Remove water with overlapping strokes.
Bumper:
-
Align and tack the center point.
-
Align around grille/sensors from center outwards.
-
Stretch and tack corners gently.
5. Pro Tips for Flawless Installation
Avoiding Fingerprints:

Keep hands wet; wear gloves.
Removing Dirt/Contamination:

Flip film adhesive-side up and clean.
-
If not possible, spray under the film and gently wipe.
Eliminating Adhesive Lines:

Lift film in a pocket-like shape.
-
Push water away with squeegee first.
Removing Mars:
-
Keep surface wet while squeegeeing.
-
If needed, rest 20 minutes, then buff with alcohol + microfiber.
Water Bubbles:

Avoid squeegeeing toward tack areas.
-
Small bubbles (4–5mm) may dry on their own.

Use a syringe or lift and reapply if needed.
6. Wrapping the Edges

Cut film with 1–1.5cm (0.5–0.75") excess.

Clean thoroughly with pure alcohol.
-
Apply adhesion promoter if needed (not on outer visible areas).
7. Preventing Edge Lift

Clean edges with alcohol, dry fully.
-
Lay film flat—no overhanging.
-
For non-wrap templates, leave 2mm gap from panel curve.

Let film bond for 1–2 hours post-installation.

To remove: pull at 45° angle toward yourself.
8. Cleaning and Maintenance
Car Wash:

Wait 3+ days post-installation.
-
Hand wash preferred.
-
Avoid pressure washers (stay 45cm away if used).
Ceramic Coating:

Safe to apply over RoyMC film.
Bug Removal:
-
Use car shampoo and soft sponge.
-
For tough spots, bug/tar remover + 15–20 minute soak.
Maintenance Tips:

Clean wax/dirt at edges with alcohol + microfiber.

Regularly clean bird droppings/insects.
-
For stains: mild polishing compound (max once every 2 years)
